Salmon, Lionel published the artcileTwo Novel Iron(II) Materials Based on Dianionic N4O2 Schiff Bases: Structural Properties and Spin-Crossover Characteristics in the Series [Fe(3-X,5-NO2-sal-N(1,4,7,10))] (X = H, 3-MeO, 3-EtO), SDS of cas: 38260-01-4, the publication is Inorganic Chemistry (2005), 44(6), 1763-1773, database is CAplus and MEDLINE.

Two spin-crossover (SCO) complexes [FeII(3-MeO,5-NO2-sal-N(1,4,7,10))] (1) and [FeII(3-EtO,5-NO2-sal-N(1,4,7,10))] (2) were prepared and studied (3-MeO,5-NO2-sal-N(1,4,7,10) and 3-EtO,5-NO2-sal-N(1,4,7,10) are deprotonated 2-[12-(hydroxy-3-methoxy-5-nitrophenyl)-2,5,8,11-tetraazadodeca-1,11-dien-1-yl]-2-methoxy-4-nitrophenol and 2-[12-(hydroxy-3-ethoxy-5-nitrophenyl)-2,5,8,11-tetraazadodeca-1,11-dien-1-yl]-2-ethoxy-4-nitrophenol, resp.). The x-ray diffraction anal. of complex 1 evidenced the same Pbnb orthorhombic system at 160 K (high-spin (HS) state) and 100 K (low-spin (LS) state). At 160 K, a 8.4810(9), b 14.7704(14), c 18.769(2) ?, V = 2351.2(4) ?3, and Z = 4. At 100 K, a 8.5317(8), b 14.4674(15), c 18.814(2) ?, and V = 2322.2(4) ?3. Complex 2 crystallizes in the P1? triclinic system. At 160 K (HS state), a 10.265(4), b 10.861(4), c 14.181(5) ?, ¦Á 84.18(4), ¦Â 70.53(5), ¦Ã 88.95(5)¡ã, V = 1482.6(10) ?3, and Z = 2. The Fe(II) coordination sphere is distorted octahedral in 1 and 2 with a cis-¦Á arrangement of the N4O2 donor set of the hexadentate ligand. The mols. are connected into 1-dimensional infinite chains through H contacts involving the secondary amine functions and Onitro atoms of the ligands in adjacent mols. Study of their magnetic properties and Mossbauer spectra revealed very different SCO behaviors: complex 1 exhibits a cooperative SCO without residual LS or HS fraction; complex 2 shows a LS ? HS SCO involving ?5% of the FeII ions in the 30-150 K range. The phenomenol. cooperative interaction parameter J = 138 K evaluated from the area of the hysteresis loop indicates a cooperative effect weaker in 1 than in [FeII(5NO2-sal-N(1,4,7,10))]. The theor. approach to the SCO in 2 indicates a HS ground state and a LS 1st excited level 53 K above: the thermal dependence of the system occurs through population of vibrational states. Comparison of the structural and electronic properties of the ferrous SCO materials with parent N4O2 ligands shows that the properties of SCO are closely related to intermol. interactions and crystal packing.

Of 27 chelating agents tested, 13 were excellent antidotes for acute Ni acetate poisoning when given i.p. to mice at 10 times the Ni dose. Log KNiX/KCaX ratios for the effective compounds ranged from 3 to 10. Na diethyldithiocarbamate [148-18-5], effective against Ni carbonyl intoxication, was not effective against Ni(II) poisoning. A donor atom appeared essential for activity, with N and O being more effective than S. Zn diethylenetriaminepentaacetate [65229-17-6] was not effective, despite its favorable transformation stability constant, possibly due to its slow rate of transformation.

Chemoselective palladium-catalyzed arylation of polyamines with 6-bromoquinoline was explored to prepare chelators for the detection of metal cations in aqueous media. The introduction of a single aromatic moiety into non-protected polyamine mols. was achieved using the com. available Pd(dba)2/BINAP precatalyst to afford nitrogen chelators, in which the aromatic signaling unit is directly attached to the polyamine residue. Water-soluble receptors were then synthesized using N-alkylation of these polyamines by hydrophilic coordinating residues. By combining rich photophys. properties of the 6-aminoquinoline unit with a high coordination affinity of chelating polyamines and a hydrophilic character of carboxamido-substituted phosphonic acid diesters in a single mol. device, the authors synthesized chemosensor 5 for selective double-channel (UV-visible and fluorescence spectroscopies) detection of CuII ions in aqueous media at physiol. levels. This receptor is suitable for the anal. of drinking water and fabrication of paper test strips for the naked-eye detection of CuII ions under UV-light. By increasing the number of donor sites the authors also obtained chemosensor 6 which is efficient for the detection of HgII ions. Moreover, chemosensor 6 is also suitable for multiple detection of metal ions because it chelates not only HgII but also CuII and ZnII ions displaying different responses of emission in the presence of these three cations.

Harders, H. published the artcileUrinary copper excretion from rats following administration of aliphatic and alicyclic polyamines, Safety of N1,N1′-(Ethane-1,2-diyl)bis(ethane-1,2-diamine) dihydrochloride, the publication is Arzneimittel-Forschung (1980), 30(2), 254-8, database is CAplus and MEDLINE.

The effect of oral aliphatic and alicyclic tetramines and tetramine analogs (with 2 N-atoms substituted by O) on Cu excretion was compared with that of D-penicillamine in rats. TETA-HCl (3,6-diazaoctan-1,8-diamine-2HCl) [38260-01-4] and BE 6184-HCl (3,7-diazanonan-1,9-diamine-3HCl) [73510-17-5] were the most active substances. However, simultaneous administration of TETA and D-penicillamine did not potentiate the cupriuretic effect. TETA, s.c. administered, was 3-fold more effective than the orally administered drug.

Shaimol, T. published the artcileWilson disease-an overview, COA of Formula: C6H20Cl2N4, the publication is World Journal of Pharmaceutical Research (2017), 6(1), 154-175, database is CAplus.

A review. Wilson disease is a rare inherited disorder that prevents the body from getting rid of extra copper. Our body needs a small amount of copper from food to stay healthy. Too much copper is poisonous. The condition is due to mutations in the Wilson disease protein (ATP7B) gene. Normally liver releases extra copper into bile. With Wilson disease, the copper builds up in liver and it releases the copper directly into bloodstream. This can cause damage to brain, kidneys and eyes. Wilson disease is present at birth, but symptoms usually start between ages 5 and 35. It first attacks the liver, the central nervous system or both. The most characteristic sign is a rusty brown ring around the cornea of the eye. A phys. exam and laboratory tests can diagnose it. Treatment is with drugs to remove the extra copper from body. It needs to take medicine and follow a low-copper diet for the rest of life. WD is treated with medication that reduces copper absorption or removes the excess copper from the body, but occasionally a liver transplant is required. A single abnormal copy of the gene is present in 1 in 100 people, who do not develop any symptoms (they are carriers). If a child inherits the gene from both parents, the child may develop Wilson’s disease. Wilson’s disease occurs in 1 to 4 per 100,000 people.
