Values of ¦ÌH prove existence of the interaction of the substituents in 4,4′ position through bridges with ¦Ò and p electrons. Any change in the electron d. at Z in the case of its interaction with substituents of the 1st ring causes a change in degree of its interaction with substituents of the 2nd ring. Only electron effects are transmitted from one substituent to the other substituents of the rings through the bridging groups.
