(C6F5)4Ge undergoes Caryl-Ge bond cleavage in reactions with O– and S-nucleophiles, while reactions with C-nucleophiles give complex mixtures of products from cleavage and defluorination. Piperidine reacts with (C6F5)4Ge by substitution of an F atom, apparently due to steric screening of Ge.
