The diarylaminyls I [Rn = e.g. 4-O2N, 4-NC, 4-EtO2C, 3,5-(Me3C)2, 3,5-Me2, or 2,4,6-Me3] and II (R1 = R2 = Me or R1R2 = O) were prepared by thermal or photolytic dissociation of the corresponding hydrazines or by H abstraction from the corresponding amines and studied by ESR, as were the corresponding N-oxides. The influence of the substitution on the properties of the diphenylaminyl system and on the dissociation of the tetraarylhydrazines was discussed.
